National Gallery on Writing

What is it? The NGW is an online space created as an educative site to showcase writing in multiple genres from all ages.
Who can submit? Anyone can submit one piece of writing (or a link to a piece of writing posted online elsewhere). The submission can be something created years ago or something composed this week.
What types of writing are eligible? Almost anything safe and appropriate for all ages (i.e., nothing that is obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit; depicts graphic or gratuitous violence; makes threats of any kind or that intimidates, harasses, or bullies anyone; or is derogatory, demeaning, malicious, defamatory, abusive, or hateful). The NGW accommodates any composition format—from word processing to photography, audio recording to text messages—and all types of writing—from letters to lists, memoirs to memos. All submissions will be reviewed before being added to the Gallery.
When and where should this happen? The TCU gallery is at the following link. You can post your work at the TCU gallery immediately (after creating a brief user profile). The NGW will be open to the public on October 20, 2009 and remain open until June 30, 2010.

If you opt to post something from your Bloomsbury Group assignments (a snappy blog, an upcoming paper, your report), I will count this as an extra credit, full point, blog grade. Be sure to alert me that you've posted to the gallery, so I can be sure to credit your efforts.

To receive credit, you must complete your post (and alert me) no later than Friday, Odcoter 23.

Each of you is assigned five dates for posting to your blog; your post is due by midnight on the Wednesday of that week. Additionally, everyone will be expected to comment on another classmate’s blog at least ten times. (Please distribute the wealth of your comments among the group: aim to reach out to a different person each time.)

Like the Bloomsbury Group’s Thursday Evenings, your blogging should be a forum for intellectual and creative exchange with classmates. In each blog entry, you should begin to analyze the reading assigned for that class session, selecting an issue or theme or question you believe to be significant. You may add images and sound clips if these enhance and contribute to your analytical contributions. I recommend that you select a word, phrase, or short quotation from the week’s readings to initiate your response. Blog entries will be graded on a 1-5 scale: 5=A, 4=B, 3=C, 2=D, 1=F. Comments are not graded and can be posted up to a week later. You must post a minimum of 10 in order to earn full points for blogging. I will not grade blogs posted after the deadline.
